Wife of the President, Mrs Aisha Buhari Receives Abia Women Donations To IDPs At The Villa

The Wife of the President, Mrs Aisha Buhari, on Wednesday in Abuja received items donated to the Internally Displaced Persons by the Abia women. Mrs Buhari received the items at the Presidential Villa, when the Wife of Abia Governor, Mrs Nkechi Ikpeazu and a delegation of Abia Women visited the president’s wife. The items donated are foodstuff, made in Abia Shoes, clothing, utensils, mattresses and beddings, house provisions and other consumables. She commended the governor wife and Abia women for donating to IDPs affected by the conflict in the northeast. She further thanked the wife governor for her acts of charity through the Vicar Hope Foundation, her pet project. The wife of the President said a significant number of women are holding political offices in Abia and this was a clear indication that Abia women played a major role in the politics of the state. She thanked the Wife of the first Military Head of State, Mrs Victoria Aguiyi-Ironsi who was on the entourage. The Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM) targets less-privileged at Rehoboth 2016

Less privileged members of the society will soon have a cause to smile as The Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM) Victory and Integrity branch, Victoria Island, Lagos, has mapped out series of event to empower its host community during her 2016 Rehoboth Conference.The Chairman of the Rehoboth Planning Committee, Deaconess Titi Oshin, who disclosed this, said the less privileged would among other gifts, receive large quantities of mosquito nets as a means of eradicating malaria from their homes. Apart from the focus on the less -privileged, a talent hunt has been initiated to add value to participants during the programme. According to the coordinator of the Talent Hunt, Deaconess Nene Rasheed Olaoluwa, the event would be used to train youths on the importance of hard work and disabuse their minds against the prevailing get rich quick syndrome in the society. The overall winner would go home with N100,000, while the first runner-up and second runner-up will get N75,000 and N50,000 respectively. Pastor of the branch, Tony Sampson, said the church would not stop until sound morals are returned to society through the youths, who will become the leaders of tomorrow. While describing societal decay as signs of the end time, he said the REHOBOTH Conference, which was given birth to in 2013 during the dedication of the church auditorium, has become a time for great spiritual impartation.

NGO disburses N1m cash to less privileged women

The Centre for Social and Community Empowerment Initiative, an NGO, says it has disbursed N1 million to 75 less privileged women in Nasarawa local government area of Nasarawa state. Mr Saidu Modibbo, the Executive Director of the NGO, made this known to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Nasarawa. Modibbo said after the disbursement that the gesture was to give succour to the beneficiaries in order to improve their standard of living. According to him, 50 women got N15,000 each, while 25 women got N10,000 each. He explained that the organisation was established with the view of empowering communities, especially the less privileged in the society. ``This organisation was formed with the aim of empowering both women and youths through the provision of educational services, economic empowerment and sensitizing people to the dangers of some of deadly diseases such as HIV and Aids, among others,’’ said the director.
