Small Scale Water Project (WASH)

We are proud to announce the successful completion of a WASH project by the Empowered to Empower the Less Privileged Women Initiative in the peri-urban communities of Aguleri and Otuocha in Anambra East Local Government Area, South East Nigeria. Wash Our project focused on providing safe drinking water to marginalized women and girls, who previously had to walk long distances to access water that wasn’t up to drinking standards due to the challenging, rocky terrain.

Through our water quality tests, we found that the underground water in these communities was nearly perfect. To ensure its safety, we dug boreholes in strategic locations and installed pH correction filters to adjust the water’s pH, which deviated slightly from the neutral level of 7. This small correction was sufficient to make the water safe for consumption.

Thanks to this initiative, these women and girls now have easy access to clean, safe water, significantly improving their daily lives and overall wellbeing.
